Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 release date, specs news: Device keeping headphone jack, 2K resolution
The Microsoft Surface Phone is believed to be the only ticket of the Redmond-based tech firm back to the mobile scene and it appears that Microsoft is going big for this feat.
According to a new leak from a Chinese forum called Baidu, the smartphone will harness the power of the Snapdragon 830, the next-generation mobile processor to come out from Qualcomm.
Based on the leaks and rumors about the processor, it can support 8 GB of RAM, which could mean that the Microsoft Surface Phone could end up having as well.
The leak also teased a 5.7-inch display with 2K resolution. The camera will reportedly be 20 megapixels, which is the same amount as the one on the Lumia 950.
There was also mention of the Redstone 2 update for Windows 10, which will pave the way to additional features on the Microsoft Surface Phone.
The software update will not be released until spring next year, which suggests that, if Microsoft intends to take advantage of it, Microsoft's flagship handset will not be here anytime soon.
A render of the Microsoft Surface Phone also came with the Baidu leak. It shows the device in sleep pearl white color, round edges and what appears to be USB-C type port.
A 3.5mm headphone jack can also be spotted, which suggests that Microsoft will not follow Apple in this aspect. This is, of course, unless the Redmond tech firm does not make design changes.
The bezels on the side appear to be ultra-thin, which gives the Microsoft Surface Phone a much sleeker look. The camera is at the top center of the device's back.
Microsoft has been mum about the Surface Phone, but fans should hear more about it when the purported spring 2017 releases draw closer.
