There have been several reports saying that Microsoft is planning to release multiple devices this year or in 2017. Upcoming devices such as the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Microsoft Surface Book 2 and the highly anticipated Microsoft Surface Phone have all been in the rumor mill for a while now. According to the latest reports, tech fans are expecting the Surface Phone to be unveiled at the ongoing IFA 2016 event in Berlin, Germany.

The yearly event, which is scheduled to run until Sept. 7, is known to highlight new consumer electronics releases. If Microsoft decides to reveal the new smartphone at the said event, the company will most likely release it by the end of the year.

According to Vine Report, although a rumor of an IFA reveal is rife; several reports have also surfaced suggesting that Microsoft may hold a press event next month to introduce the new Surface Phone. Fans are definitely excited to see what the company has in store for their upcoming flagship smartphone. The Redmond-based tech giant is expected to replace the Microsoft the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL with a new handset; however, the company has yet to provide the official details of the new device.

Nonetheless, several reports have already emerged revealing the possible specs of the new Microsoft smartphone. According to iTechPost, the upcoming Surface phone will most likely come with a 5.5-inch screen with an AMOLED display technology. The device will also run on a Snapdragon 821 processor from Qualcomm; however, there are speculations suggesting that it may carry the powerful Snapdragon 830 chipset.

The device is expected to come in three variants. The base unit of the new Surface Phone is said to carry 3 GB of RAM paired with 32 GB of storage capacity, while the mid-range variant is expected to have 6 GB of RAM along with 128 GB storage. The high-end line of the upcoming smartphone will reportedly carry a whopping 8 GB of RAM paired with a sizeable storage capacity at 500 GB.
