Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Release Date News: Device Will Arrive July 2015?
Speculation is mounting that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will be released in July this year. According to a company source, "Microsoft will reveal it on G.D.C., or Game Developers Conference, which is scheduled to be held in San Francisco, C.A. on March 2-6, 2015.
Aside from the release date, there have been rumors on the specs of the Surface Pro 4. The successor to the Surface Pro 3 is expected to have improved design.
GospelHerald noted that Microsoft had a profitable fourth quarter in 2014 with the success of its Surface Pro 3. The source said the company is bound to score a repeat success if it follows through on the rumor that its Surface Pro 4 will have 4G LTE cellular functionality.
The source said Microsoft is expected to improve on its laptop's already impressive specs. Aside from an aesthetic redesign, Microsoft is also expected to make other internal improvements geared to generate more sales.
There are also rumors of a smaller and more portable 8-inch model, which may be called Surface Pro 4 Mini. Surface Pro 4 will hit 16 GB RAM. On the processor side, rumor has it that Intel's nore Core M Boradweel chip will be featured, which will be an improvement in the Surface Pro 3's Haswell chip. The latter provides 30 percent more energy consumption that the Core M.
If all goes to plan, according to rumors, the Atom 64-bit and Windows 10 will be right out of the box pretty soon. Windows 10 is expected to be released by this fall, which fuelled speculation that the release of the Surface Pro 4 is around the same timeline.
Another telling sign of the imminent release of the Surface Pro 4 is the fact that Microsoft recently dropped the price of the Surface Pro 3 by $100, in apparent preparation for the announcement of the next release.
The Surface Pro file has been one of the most successful product lines for Microsoft, along with Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The Surface Pro 4 is expected to retail at $899 for the large version and around $599 for the mini version.
