Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, news, specs rumors: new hybrid tablet-laptop to come with powerful i7 processor?
Speculations about the release of a Microsoft Surface Pro 5 continues to emerge online despite the silence from the Redmond, WA-based tech giant.
It has been more than a year since Microsoft released the fourth-generation Surface Pro, but the tech firm has yet to confirm if it is planning to release its successor.
Rumors claim that the next Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will feature a lot of improved specs compared to its predecessor. According to The Bitbag, the fifth generation of the two-in-one detachable laptop and tablet hybrid will be equipped with an Intel i7 processor and 16 GB of random-access memory (RAM) with 512 GB of internal memory.
On the other hand, PC Advisor claims that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will possibly come out with Intel's Skylake chip. Yet the report also noted that the device could also wait until the next-generation Kaby Lake chipset comes out.
The device is also speculated to have two screen display options, including the entry-level 2K screen as well as the more advanced 4K display for those who are willing to spend more.
Other rumors also claimed that the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will have the USB-C port instead of the usual USB 3.0 port that came out with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. There are also claims saying that the next-generation Microsoft Surface Pro will feature a brand-new fingerprint-scanning technology with the use of a PixelSense display. It might also have the Thunderbolt 3 connectivity as well as longer battery time. The device might also run using the Windows 10 Redstone 3 straight out of the box.
At the moment, Microsoft continues to maintain its silence about the details of the rumored Surface Pro 5. Yet there are talks claiming that the device will have an $899 price tag upon release sometime in Feb. 2017.
Nevertheless, the tech giant has yet to confirm if any of the said specs rumors are valid.
