Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs news 2016: Hybrid laptop may get announced this year?

Microsoft is said to be planning on releasing several devices this year or in 2017 including the highly anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 5. According to reports, the upcoming hybrid laptop is Microsoft's answer to the new MacBook Pro 2016 from Apple, which is rumored to come out in fall. Although Microsoft has yet to provide concrete details with regard to the development and release of the highly anticipated device, several information have emerged online that would get tech fans excited.

According to a report by to PC Advisor UK, the successor of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will come out in 2017; however, the publication said that there are indications suggesting that a different version may come out this year. Apparently, a photo has been spotted inside Microsoft's building 88 that appear to show a Surface device with "coming soon" and "2016" texts. Another poster was spotted showing three devices with "2017" on them.

There are reports suggesting that Microsoft might announce the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 in October 2016 but will schedule the release by next year. However, this has yet to be confirmed by the company.

A spring 2017 release for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 makes a lot of sense since the new Windows 10 update will not be available until next year.

Meanwhile, Country Caller reported that Microsoft is also waiting for the seventh generation core processor from Intel, the Kaby Lake. There have been speculations saying that the company will build the Surface Pro 5 around the new powerful chipset.

In the meantime, the Country Caller shared that Microsoft is still waiting for the availability of Intel Corp.'s Kaby Lake processor, another reason why it is impossible to see the Surface Pro 5 this year. There are reports suggesting that Intel will start the roll out of the processor by the end of 2016.

As of the moment, fans are expecting the company to provide solid information with regard to the development of Surface Pro 5.
