More black babies aborted than born in NYC, data reveals
New data has revealed the number of aborted African-American babies in New York City is higher than the number being born.
In a report by the Bureau of Vital Statistics, the total percentage of abortion rates for black pregnancies in 2013 was 51.6 percent, while the rate of abortion in all 'viable' pregnancies was slightly higher at 54.6.
This means that for every one black child that was born, about 1.2 children were aborted during the course of the covered year. Data revealed an average of 66 babies of color were born in New York City each day, while 79 were aborted.
Walter B. Hoye II, President for the Issues4Life Foundation, has called for African American leaders to 'do the math', and take a stand in ending 'abortion on demand' in the United States, particularly in New York City.
"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was prophetic when he said: 'The Negro cannot win if he is willing to sell the future of his children for his personal and immediate comfort and safety'."
The total number of black pregnancies in the city for 2013 was 56,165, wherein 53,115 pregnancies were considered 'viable' or successful.
