More Superheroes Arrive on TV in 'The Flash'/'Arrow' Spinoff 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow'
More superheroes are coming to your television set. CW is coming up with the "The Flash" and "Arrow" spinoff series "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" where a wide range of characters from the DC Comics Universe will be introduced.
The CW described the premise of "Legends of Tomorrow" as follows: "When heroes alone are not enough ... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?"
The series will see cast members of "The Flash" and "Arrow" reprising their roles. Brandon Routh stars as Ray Palmer/The Atom; Caity Lotz as Canary; Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold; Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, and Victor Garber as Professor Stein/one half of the nuclear powered Firestorm.
Other cast members – who will star as new characters debuting on the series – include Ciarra Renee as Hawkgirl, Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson and Arthur Darvill as time traveler Rip Hunter.
"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, the team behind "Arrow," and Sarah Schechter (who executive produces on "The Flash" with Kreisberg and Berlanti).
Jay Jackson is the only character mentioned who has no DC Comics counterpart—superhero or supervillain. The character is described in the official bio as "a former high school athlete whose pro career was derailed by injury. Now making ends meet as an auto mechanic, Jay will come to have a surprising affiliation to the S.T.A.R. Labs crew."
Speculations are rife as to whether Jay Jackson is a new character or possibly a version of DC Comics superheroes Cyborg or Static Shock.
