Mortal Kombat X Release Date, New Characters Latest News: Spawn, Predator, Al Dillon Set to Appear
Will gamers see Spawn, Predator, and Al Dillon when they receive the downloadable content, or DLC, for Mortal Kombat X when the latter is released in April this year? The answer appears to be "yes."
Image Comics founder and renowned artist Todd McFarlane told GamerFitnation.com that he has inked a new deal with Warner Bros. that will allow Spawn, his creation, in its video games.
"We actually have this short deal with them, so they may put him in there," McFarlane said. "I don't know if they're ever gonna use it. They just might squat on it."
Meanwhile, reports by the VideoGamer.com on Wednesday said Mortal Kombat X is set to receive a new DLC pack this June that would introduce Predator as a playable character.
The DLC pack will also feature CIA agent Colonel Al Dillon, who was killed in the original movie, according to the online source. Carl Weathers, the actor who played Dillon in the big screen, has been said to offer his likeness for use in the game.
However, Warner Bros. has yet to announce its plans for the Mortal Kombat X DLC pack.
"The tricky part here is that the Predator property belongs to 20th Century Fox. Warner Bros. would also have to cut a deal with that studio to use the hunter and Weathers in Mortal Kombat X," Den of Geek! said on Thursday. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the reports.
Creative director Ed Boon (@noobde) tweeted on Saturday an image featuring characters from U.S. horror flicks specifically Halloween's Michael Myers, Nightmare On Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, and Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees, writing: "Horrror DLC for MKX konfirmed EB: Kool image !"
In July last year, he retweeted an image of Predator placed into the Mortal Kombat X key art, with the words "Oh snap!!"
Other deadly characters from other universes have already been featured as guests in the Mortal Kombat series, such as God of War's Kratos and Krueger, making the game more interesting aside from its cast of warriors like Scorpion, Raiden, Sub Zero, and Kano.
Mortal Kombat X is set to be launched on April 14 in different platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It can already be pre-ordered at Amazon.co.uk.
