'Mortal Kombat X' Release Date, New Characters News: Trailer Video Features Shaolin Monks
A new trailer of "Mortal Kombat X" has been released online with the Shaolin Monks in the spotlight this time.
"Mortal Kombat X" is set to hit the shelves this April 2015.
The trailer focuses on former heroes Kung Lao and Liu Kang, with newcomer Kung Jin emerging as the only hope in stopping these two characters from destroying reality, according to Den of Geek!
"Liu Kang and Kung Lao are Raiden's two biggest failures back to haunt him from beyond the grave," Den of Geek! said in its review of the videogame trailer. "In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden was responsible for their deaths, albeit he was more hands on with Liu Kang. Not only did he accidentally drive Liu to madness, but he also kind of fried him to death with electricity," the entertainment news site said.
Liu is now a "reverant" working under Quan Chi but he seems to retain enough of his personality that he is still after Raiden for his "ineptitude," added Den of Geek!
The trailer also has a very nice surprise to long-time fans of "Mortal Kombat" as it features the first actual footage of Shaolin fighter Liu Kang in action. It also shows two never-before-seen Fatalities, said Den of Geek! One of them is someone whom Liu Kang went with on his way to the "Roadhouse" on Raiden.
Another surprise is the cameo appearance of Bo' Rai Cho, the drunken master who trained the Shaolin characters.
The trailer was similar to the one about the cage family trailer, featuring Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and next-generation character Cassie Cage, in the way that it focused on a single theme.
Den of Geek! predicted that a trailer of Scorpion, Kenshi, and Takeda as well as Jax, Jacqueline Briggs and either Kano or Sub-Zero will come out soon, based on the themes of the two previous trailers.
