In the eyes of a non-professional gamer, "Mortal Kombat X" is well-worth its $59.99 price tag, a Forbes review said on Monday.

Newbies will find the video game by Warner Bros. Interactive entertaining, even for those who have not played a video game since the heydays of Capcom's "Street Fighter."

Newcomers to the game may also find the number of basic moves, combos, and special moves (at least 75 for videogame character Cassie Cage) overwhelming, but "easy fatalities" can also be done with just two-button combos.

"It's nothing short of a guilty pleasure. It's replete with fan service, expertly choreographed fight scenes, cheesy and bombastic dialogue, and a four-hour storyline that spans 25 years full of love, revenge, redemption, and brutality," Forbes said.

"Mortal Kombat X" also introduces iconic characters like brawlers Johnny Cage and his daughter Cassie Cage, supernatural slayers like D'Vorah, and gods such as Raiden.

"Each character feels unique, and it's exhilarating to pull off their (literally) bone-crushing X-Ray moves and find yourself mastering a handful of combos to finally clinch a battle," the review stated.

"Mortal Kombat X" is packed with a variety of missions which challenge players with "classic arcade-like progression." There is also "Test Your Might," in which the player has to destroy an increasingly difficult number of objects within a certain time. "Survival" and "Endless" towers task players to defend themselves against waves and waves of opponents without dying.

The Krypt also offers "unlockables" such as costumes and fatalities that can be bought with Koins earned in normal gameplay.

For the "more casual gamers who just want to know if we'll be getting $60 worth of fun with Mortal Kombat X, the answer is a resounding yes," the Forbes review said. "It's a fighter that holds your attention (something games increasingly fail to do these days), delivers an unrelenting assault on your senses, and is blissful eye and ear candy."
