Moto G vs Moto X Comparison, Specs Review: What Has Improved Since the Moto G?

The Moto G and the Moto X represent Motorola's attempts to go into the low-end smartphone market. Moto X is the successor of the Moto G, although the design has not changed much apart from the fact that it's been "stripped" down to be able to carry a lower price tag.

As for the specs, the Moto X has improved and is now 1.7 GHz compared to Moto G's 1.2 GHz. The RAM has been doubled from Moto G's 1 GB to Moto X's 2 GB. The screen size of Moto X is slightly bigger at 4.7 inches compared to Moto G's 4.5 inches. The clarity of the screen has also improved from Moto G's 326 ppi to Moto X's 312 ppi.

Motorola has changed the screen panel from Moto G's IPS LCD to Moto X's AMOLED screen. Moto G gets its power from its Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (8926) while the new Moto X is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960T). Moto X also has stronger graphics with 400 MHz, Qualcomm Adreno 320 compared to Moto G's 400 MHz, Qualcomm Adreno 305.

The rear camera has doubled with Moto X having 10MP compared to Moto G's 5 MP. As for the secondary camera, Moto X has 2 MP while Moto G has 1.31 MP. For both phones, users got two options when it comes to internal memory. For the Moto X, it's between 16 GB and 32 GB. For the Moto G, it's between 8 GB and 16 GB.

There's not much improvement on the battery with Moto X only having 2,200 mAh—a 130 mAH difference between Moto G's 2,070 mAh.

From the specs above, it looks like Motorola has successfully met users' expectations, considering that both are low-end smartphones.
