Moto X 2017 specs, features: new renders and video reveal device's lack of support for Moto Mods
The Moto Mods may not be a priority for Motorola as the recent leaks about the rumored Moto X 2017 surfaced online.
New reports from Android Authority claim that the renders and a new 360-degree video of the rumored smartphone prove that the device will lack Moto Mods support unlike the current Moto Z device.
According to the report, the rumored Moto X 2017 renders look similar to the Moto Z complete with a camera hump and a metal design, yet it will not have the same pogo pins and slight curve at the device's back portion. This means that the Moto Mods that was released for the previous Motorola devices will not be compatible with the upcoming smartphone.
This means that various Moto-exclusive accessories like the Hasselblad True Zoom lens, the JBL SoundBoost speaker, as well as the Moto Insta-Share projector might not work on the upcoming model of Motorola smartphone.
However, the report also revealed that two smartphone features that were removed from Moto Z, namely the 3.5mm headphone port and the microUSB slot, will return in the soon-to-be-released Moto X 2017. But there are no stereo speakers or dual cameras seen on the device.
Other speculations claim that the Moto X 2017 will have a 5.2-inch touchscreen. The device is expected to have a dimension measurement of 150 x 73.8 x 8.4 mm upon release. This is slightly smaller than the Moto Z, which came out with a 5.5-inch display screen. It may also have a larger battery size as well. Yet the device is not expected to come with any upgrades on its camera or speaker departments.
Motorola remains silent about the specs of the rumored Moto X 2017, yet speculations claim that the smartphone developer might unveil the device during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 event beginning on Thursday, Jan. 5, up to Sunday, Jan. 8, or during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona in February.
