'Mr. Robot' season 2 news: Show strives for authenticity, takes on hacker as technical adviser

"I don't think this position has really existed before in television," he added. "So it's an interesting place to be."

It makes sense that a show like "Mr. Robot" would care so much about being called out on Reddit or poked fun at over Twitter. With a Golden Globe to its name for Best Television Series, showrunner Sam Esmail is taking it one step higher by making sure Elliot does his hacking right. It may be more than just having others notice. It could be in the interest of the show appearing more credible to its audience.
