'Mr. Robot' season 2 release date, spoilers news: Mr. Robot and Elliot play nice with each other; Darlene succumbs to her desires?
The past episode of "Mr. Robot" season 2 merged fantasy and reality in a way the series has never done before, and it set the tone for what viewers could expect in the next episode.
Episode 6, titled "eps2.4_m4ster-s1ave.aes," saw Elliot (Rami Malek) in a hospital bed after he was beaten to a pulp by Ray's (Craig Robinson) goons. He was handed the beating after he snooped around Ray's website when he was tasked to oversee its migration despite orders from Ray not to dig too deep into it.
When Elliot came to, it was to a reimagining of "Mr. Robot" as a cheesy sitcom from the '80s, which was apparently Mr. Robot's (Christian Slater) way of helping him cope with the physical and mental pain caused by the severe beating he received from Ray's baddies.
The episode might have also answered why Edward/Mr. Robot manifested himself as such even after his death. He made a promise to Elliot that he would be there for him always to assuage younger Elliot's fears when his dad was diagnosed with cancer. Apparently, Edward laid the groundwork for the psychosis that continually haunts Elliot.
The episode also showed Angela (Portia Doubleday) setting up the hack that would grant the fsociety access to the FBI's database and rig it before the leads bring them to Elliot, Angela, and Darlene (Carly Chaikin). As Angela isn't a trained hacker, she had to perform the task using knowledge she acquired in a span of 24 hours and Darlene's phone walk-through.
Meanwhile, check out the promo trailer for Wednesday's episode titled "eps2.5_h4ndshake.sme."
Hollywood Hills shared the official synopsis from USA Network, and based on it, the episode would be interesting and dramatic, too. The synopsis reads:
"Mr. Robot and Elliot will end up trying to make nice. Fsociety is going to release a video in honor of Uncle Sam, and Darlene is going to act on a long-ago desire."
Nowhere in the next episode does it show that Elliot's troubles would ease up, so it looks like he'll continue on dealing with his "torture" days. The question is how much can he put up with? Would Mr. Robot help him deal with his troubles like he did to take Elliot's mind off the beating? What is Darlene's "long-ago" desire?
Episode 7 would answer those questions, but knowing the series, it would leave viewers with more questions at the end of the episode.
"Mr. Robot" season 2 would be back on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 9 p.m. CT/10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
