'Narcos' season 3 air date, news, spoilers: 'Sense8' star Miguel Ãngel Silvestre lands recurring role as cartel member
The third season of Netflix's hit drama "Narcos" is slowly taking shape, and a new actor has been tapped to join the series for a recurring role.
"Sense8" actor Miguel Ãngel Silvestre will join "Narcos" for its upcoming third season, which is scheduled to air next year. The hunky Spanish star teased the casting news to his fans through social media, while HOLA! España was the first publication to confirm that Silvestre has indeed joined the Netflix program.
When asked about his character, Silvestre revealed that he will have a Colombian accent, which means that the series will continue to focus on the drug trafficking industry in the said country. "He is an enigmatic person," the actor told ABC. "It is not yet very well known how he is. He's had a love story that was bitter and also filled hatred," he added.
Although further details about his character are still being kept under wraps, the media outlet notes that Silvestre will be introduced as the person who's in charge of laundering the cartel's money. The magazine has also learned that the 34-year-old actor has been traveling to and from Bogota, Colombia to film his scenes. Earlier this week, Silvestre shared a short video of him on set via Instagram while wearing a cap which read "Narcos." The post is captioned with, "#Narcos Buenos dÃas...@Netflix"
Season 2 left off with the final episode teasing that the series will next explore the Cali Cartel after Pablo Escobar's death. Reports say that the story will center on how the drug trade in Colombia continued to flourish because of Escobar's rivals. It was previously rumored that Mexico will be the show's next primary setting, but executive producer Eric Newman already hinted that the show is not yet done tackling the drug business in Escobar's home country.
Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for "Narcos" season 3, but the series is expected to be released around late August or early September next year.
