Though Pablo Escobar's story ended with his death in the second season of Netflix's drug cartel drama, the show will continue to feature stories about the war on drugs for two more seasons. Recently, the showrunners have announced a new set of cast members for the upcoming season.

The third season of "Narcos" will pick up shortly after the death of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, who was portrayed by Wagner Moura.

"Halt and Catch Fire" actress Kerry Bishe will be introduced next season as Christina. The actress will be portraying an American national who married a Colombian man with ties to a drug cartel.

New Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents will also be added to the show. Michael Stahl-David, who portrayed Robert Hawkins in J.J. Abrams' "Cloverfield," will portray one of the two new agents. His partner will be New Zealand actor Matt Whelan.

As for the original character of the show, Pedro Pascal, who is portrayed by "Game of Thrones" alum Javier Pena, will be returning in the forthcoming season. Boyd Holbrook's Steve Murphy, on the other hand, has not been confirmed.

Four Cali godfathers will be the highlight of seasons 3 including Rodriguez Gilberto (Damian Alcazar), Miguel Gilberto (Francisco Denis) and Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann). The fourth godfather has yet to be introduced to the fans of "Narcos."

The real DEA agents Javier Pena and Steve Murphy previously helped the production of the first two seasons of the show. Both of them served as consultants. Showrunner Eric Newman admitted that the show is 50 percent fiction and 50 percent nonfiction. However, they have remained true to the actual chronology of the events.

Newman also admitted that Pena and Murphy left Colombia after they managed to end Escobar's cartel in 1992. Newman then teased, "The agent who was there when the Cali Cartel was taken down, I think you'll see him in season three."

The third season of "Narcos" is expected to launch on Netflix in 2017.
