NBA trade rumors: Tyus Jones a target of two NBA teams
The season is about to start but the trade rumors keep on coming and this time it is linking a player of the Minnesota Timberwolves to a move away. Minnesota is an up-and-coming team but it appears that they have too much pieces for the point guard position.
At the moment, the top spot goes to Ricky Rubio as he is the veteran point guard on the team, however, he may not be the best point guard if the Wolves' youngsters step up this season.
Tyus Jones, who is now 20 years old, is one of the possible players who can fill the void for the point guard position.
However, rumors are circulating that the Philadelphia 76ers are eyeing a move to bring in the second-year player.
The Sixers are still a team in transition and are hoping that adding Jones to the mix can lead the young core to a positive direction. That is still a few years away so having a young point guard like Jones grow with the team may be essential.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans are also being linked to the point guard.
Just like the Sixers, the Pelicans are trying to rebuild but they are doing a bit better than their Eastern Conference rivals as the Pelicans are battling for playoff spots. They still have Anthony Davis as their best player and adding Jones in the line-up may give them a new style of play that can benefit both youngsters.
Drafted 24th overall in the 2015 draft, Jones averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 assists per game.
He only played 37 regular season games but is hoping that he can break through to the first team and be more exposed.
Jones has a deal with the Wolves until the 2018-19 season, but the Wolves can also trade him if Rubio and Kris Dunn take up most of the playing time in the campaign.
