NBA trade rumors: Will the Suns move Brandon Knight before the trade deadline?
When the Phoenix Suns acquired Brandon Knight from the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2015, the organization believed that they have found the perfect running mate for guard Eric Bledsoe. And Knight looked like the player they envisioned when he starred for the Suns during the 2015–2016 season after Bledsoe missed most of the season due to a torn meniscus in his left knee.
The future looked bright for Knight heading into the 2016–2017 season, but the Suns decided to hand the starting role to up-and-coming guard, Devin Booker, before the season started, and the rest was history.
Knight's numbers are down all across the board this season, and pundits believe that it is only a matter of time before the Suns decides to put him on the trading block. In fact, Brian Windhorst has revealed that the team has been discussing trade scenarios with the Sacramento Kings since the summer.
"It's hard to read Sacramento. Sacramento talks a lot then never does anything. So, Sacramento is very frustrating to people. But I know that Sacramento has been to talking to Phoenix about Brandon Knight since the summer. Will that ultimately get done? I don't know," he said in his "The Lowe Post" podcast (transcribed by NBC Sports).
The Kings may not have pulled the trigger for a trade, but Knight will probably fit in nicely with that team. Right now, Darren Collison and Ty Lawson have been sharing time at the point guard spot and they are doing okay. Will the Kings see Knight as an upgrade?
Dan Feldman of NBC Sports does not think so. "I'm just not sure Knight is that upgrade. He has struggled coming off the bench for the Suns, and his court vision as a lead guard always left plenty to be desired," he stated.
Feldman said that Knight can play as a combo guard with the Kings, but he hasn't been playing well this year, and the Kings already has Garrett Temple playing the same role.
The situation in Phoenix Suns is a bit messy right now, but will the Suns ship out Knight before the trade deadline?
