Palmer (Brian Dietzen) tries to stop a stranger's suicide attempt on the upcoming episode of "NCIS" season 14.

Titled "Keep Going," this week's episode will see Palmer face a major crisis. According to the official synopsis, the NCIS team is working on a hit-and-run case when Palmer sees a man standing on the ledge of a building. Determined to save the man's life, the assistant medical examiner will not hesitate to help the stranger by joining him on the narrow sill.

CBS recently released a new promo for the episode, and it features Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) following Palmer. However, they both realize that they can't do anything once the man jumps to his death, so they leave it all up to Palmer. While Palmer tries to talk to the man and convince him to get to safety, things will take an unexpected turn. Both of them fall, but the stranger manages to save himself. Palmer, on the other hand, is seen barely holding onto the ledge.

Dietzen spoke with TV Line, and he shared some teasers for the upcoming hour. The actor revealed that episode 13 will also feature flashbacks as Palmer reflects on what he's done in his life as he tries to survive. "This guy obviously wants to kill himself, and it's Jimmy's duty to say, 'Hey, look, life is worth living. You need to keep going, for a reason, for some reason,'" the actor explained. "We flash back to a bunch of things that Jimmy has done over the years, where he has always been a very positive character — a glass half-full type of guy. We revisit that over and over again," he went on to say.

As the episode unfolds, viewers will realize that the man-on-a-ledge crisis is only half of the drama they'll see. It turns out that details about Palmer's past that no one knew will be unraveled as well. "He has a couple of big, big secrets that come out," he added.

The 14th season of "NCIS" airs every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
