'NCIS' season 14 spoilers, plot news 2016: Is there a chance that Ziva is still alive?
"NCIS" season 13 witnessed the farmhouse of Ziva David's (Cote de Pablo) family in Israel having been demolished into ashes with an explosion. There remains the possibility and hope for fans that she is well and alive and will be making an appearance in the show some time in the future.
Only one survivor from the blast was said to have been recovered. It is Tali, who is Ziva's daughter to Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and whose existence has been unknown to her father until the preceding season's finale episode. The tragedy that struck the farmhouse and the fact that only one was declared to have made it out alive instantly draws the conclusion that Ziva was in the farmhouse as it was set off in a detonation and thus failed to get out alive.
However, speculations are rife that there might be another scope to the story arc involving Ziva's assumed demise. There are the odds that she was abducted by Trent Kort (David Dayan Fisher) before the farmhouse burst into flames. After all, there was not a reference to any corpse in the final episode of "NCIS" season 13. The conclusion of the previous season did not entirely put a definitive closure to this plot.
With regard to having storylines left open with a number of options, "NCIS" executive producer and showrunner Gary Glasberg told Deadline: "'NCIS' is a show and a franchise that's known historically for leaving lots of things unanswered and leaving all doors opens. We revisit all kinds of things in all kinds of ways. We never say never and I'm not going to stray from that kind of approach."
The return date of "NCIS" on CBS for its season 14 will most likely be in the fall, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
