'NCIS' season 14 updates, spoilers: Spotlight on new characters in premiere episode; car explosion linked to missing agent?
"NCIS," CBS' top-rating, long-running crime procedural drama is gearing up for its 14th season, and although the team is one short of an original member, three familiar faces are expected to breathe life to new characters as the series reinvents itself.
British actor Duane Henry, who was introduced in the season 13 finale as MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves, has been promoted as a series regular. His character was tasked to help Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the team catch an agent gone bad and avenge the murder of Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
Following Henry's promotion, "That 70s Show's" Wilmer Valderrama and "Blue Bloods'" Jennifer Esposito were added to the series as Agent Nick Torres and Agent Alex Quinn, respectively. TV Line has released the description for the premiere episode of "NCIS" season 14 titled "Rogue" based off the 2016 fall preview that CBS released for its shows.
According to the description, Gibbs' team will investigate a car explosion connected to Torres. It also stated that after finding eight replacement agents unsatisfactory, Gibbs will ask an old pal — Quinn — to shadow Team Gibbs.
Could Team Gibbs be investigating a car explosion that will lead them to Torres, a special agent who went deep cover many years ago and has not been heard of since then? Valderrama's character has been described as a loose cannon, so could he have caused the explosion?
It looks like the season premiere of "NCIS'" 14th installment will shine the spotlight on Valderrama and Esposito, in a bid to give fans a chance to get to know the characters better.
According to Movie News Guide, during a live session on the show's official Facebook Page, Esposito might have hinted that although she has no idea how Torres and Quinn would meet, it looks like there's some history between the two characters. Fans can expect an interesting plotline when the series premieres next month.
"NCIS" season 14 episode 1 will air on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
