The search for the first win in the season may be over but the New Orleans Saints still have a lot of work to do.

First, they had to place safety Erik Harris on the injured reserve as he sustained a torn ACL during practice on Monday. He has played all four games so far for the Saints and has logged in one tackle so far.

This injury is a huge blow for the Saints as Harris was only signed by the team in February. His contract lasts for three years and he is scheduled to earn $450,000 this season.

Meanwhile, in order to cover for the injuries, the Saints promoted defensive back slash cornerback Brian Dixon to the active roster. The news was revealed by Nick Underhill through Twitter.

Dixon is 26 years old and has played his entire career with the Saints. In his first two years, he put up decent numbers as he has 40 combined tackles for those two years. He stayed healthy as he played all the games during that time.

This year, Dixon has only played once but might see more chances on the field since being promoted to the main roster by the Saints. Dixon was in the team's practice squad, and his promotion sees his spot open up for the team. Left back Chris McCain was signed to the team's practice squad.

The linebacker previously played with the Miami Dolphins and featured eight games in the 2015 season.

New Orleans needs all the help they can get as they find themselves third in the NFC South with a 1-3 record. The Carolina Panthers are below them at a surprising 1-4 record but they are expected to rise, leaving the Saints with everything to lose so far in the season.
