Nintendo NX specs rumors 2016: NX will be portable, handheld console but with less power
Not much is known about Nintendo NX even after the company confirmed its existence. Nintendo avoided sharing more details about its next console and even chose to skip unveiling it at E3.
At this point, the rumored console is still a mystery but according to the latest murmurs, Nintendo's next console is a portable, handheld gaming device that comes with detachable controllers. This piece of information came from sources who told Eurogamer.
When used as a portable device, the handheld console NX will still have its own display. The screen is said to have controller sections on both sides. Further the report details that the gaming device can also act as a home console that can be connected to the TV screen. The dock station will be used to connect the main processor so users can start playing on big screens.
It also remains to be seen if Nintendo will use cartridges for the game, but sources have also confirmed to the publication that it's the case. Digital Foundry also shared the tip that the NX will have Nvidia Tegra mobile processor onboard. Given the change in technology, Metro speculates that Nintendo NX will not support backwards compatibility, especially since it's also rumored that the console will run on a new operating system from the company.
It appears that Nintendo NX is an entirely unique and new device that should surprise the gaming community. But the report from Eurogamer mentioned that the device is not entirely impressive when it comes to its graphics.
As of the moment, all the aforementioned specs of the device still belong to the rumor category so readers need to take them with a grain of salt. However, it is expected that Nintendo will finally clear this air come this September at the Tokyo Game Show.
