'Nioh' release date, latest update: game finally releases after 12 years of development
"Nioh" is one of the most anticipated game for samurai-loving gamers. The long development of the game has increased the hype of it, supplemented by the demos that have been shared all over the internet.
Enthusiasts have been patiently waiting for the launch of "Nioh" and finally, game developer Team Ninja came out in the open to announce some important details about it. The developer's interview with GameReactor was shared on NeoGAF, revealing that the game will be available in the "near future" following its release.
According to Google Translate, the announcement reads: "We plan to offer for free a player-to-player mode in the near future after the launch of Nioh. There is also a seasonal pass available for booking on PlayStation Store which will add three large DLCs that will be launched shortly after the game's departure."
Team Ninja also took it to Twitter to announce the release of the title. As reported by GameSpot, the game developer announced that the game has already been finished and is ready to be shipped to retail stores.
Furthermore, Team Ninja reportedly stated that "Nioh" has achieved "master up" and the Japanese rendering has "gone gold." Then, the team behind the title expressed their gratitude to the enthusiasts who have practiced patience waiting for the game to become available.
"Nioh" took 12 years to develop following its announcement in 2004. Nothing was ever heard since its announcement, but the title resurfaced to show some glimpses of its gameplay at the Tokyo Game Show in 2015.
The game developer is known for making hit games such as "Dead or Alive," and they described the then-unreleased game as "a gateway" to the "Ninja Gaide" games.
When the game becomes available, players will finally be able to face the computer-controlled enemies, based on the characters manipulated by other players. The gameplay of "Nioh" does not involve directly playing against fellow players, but the characters that the players choose.
"Nioh" is set to be released on Feb. 9 for PlayStation 4 (PS4).
