Nokia's brand-new Android smartphone is finally introduced
For a while, many thought that phone brand Nokia is dead until HMD breathed new life into it when the company did not just acquire the tech company but also continuously developed it. Now, the fruition of the development is already scheduled to hit the market with the handheld device referred to as the Nokia 6.
The first Nokia Android phone was first teased last month with the promise of a release sometime this year. Little did consumers know that it will be coming sooner rather than later with HMD already introducing the device with a scheduled public rollout in the next few months.
In a press statement sent by the Finnish company, it was detailed what the Nokia 6 packs in terms of specs. The aluminum unibody phone sports a 5.5-inch screen with full high-definition (HD) resolution, a 16-megapixel (MP) rear camera with autofocus as well as an 8 MP front snapper.
Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragonâ„¢ 430 processor with X6 LTE modem runs the smartphones. 4 GB random-access memory (RAM) coupled with 64 GB internal storage running on the latest version of Android Nougat can be expected.
"The Nokia 6 is a result of listening to our consumers who desire a beautifully crafted handset with exceptional durability, entertainment and display features.
Our ambition is to deliver a premium product, which meets consumer needs at every price point, in every market," Arto Nummela, CEO of HMD Global, proudly said.
Unfortunately, however, for those who are already looking to purchase the smartphone, the Nokia 6 will only be available in China, which has over 500 million smartphone users enough for a good sample size for the new device.
"China is the largest and most competitive smartphone market in the world. It is no coincidence that we have chosen to bring our first Android device to China with a long-term partner. JD.com is known for its upwardly mobile customer base and it has for many years believed in the Nokia brand and sold millions of our products to Chinese customers. Launching our first smartphone device, in such a strategically important market, with JD.com a trusted online retailer marks a signal of intent," vice president of Greater China, HMD Global, Nestor Xu, explained of their decision to contain the rollout as of now.
Despite this, HMD Global promises that the Nokia 6 is just the first step of many in terms of developing Android phones fit for the fast-paced lifestyle that everyone seems to be living right now. That being said, international tech junkies should continue to be on the lookout for what the revitalized Nokia brand will bring into the smartphone market.
