A homeless man in Charlotte, North Carolina is making headlines for recently making a small donation of just 18 cents to his local church.

The homeless man, who wishes to remain anonymous, reportedly made the donation to First United Methodist church in Charlotte by leaving an envelope containing 18 cents at the place of worship.

On the front of the envelope were the words: "Please don't be mad. I don't have much. I'm homeless. God Bless."

Ann Huskey, who runs the weekly Muffin Ministry at the church, recently told People magazine that the man who left the donation is humble and does not want his identity revealed.

"He's a very humble person he doesn't want to be noticed or recognized," Huskey told the media outlet in a recent interview.

The pastor of the church, Patrick Hamrick, recently told local media outlet WCNC-TV that the homeless man did leave a voice message on his church phone, telling him that he was the one who left the donation.

The two reportedly met, and the anonymous gentleman told the pastor that he wanted the donation to remain between "him, the church and God."

"I thanked him for all he has done and assured him that we honor his intent and his dignity," the pastor told WCNC-TV.

"After the service we have a couple of people called counters who process the offerings and put them in our safe," the pastor recalled to ABC News. "The secretary called me over and in the envelope was a dime, a nickel, and three cents. That was the 18 cents. We flipped it over and the note was there."
