The third installment to the "Now You See Me" film series will have new writers to take over the screenplay. Meanwhile, the director of the franchise series is keeping his plot based on the characters of the film.

"Now You See Me" was confirmed for a third movie even before the second one hit theaters, which was in June 2016. Since then, there have been no official announcements of cast members and plot details, but actors Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, and Lizzy Caplan are all expected to reprise their roles for "Now You See Me 3."

Jon M. Chu will still be the director as he was for the first and second films, but Deadline previously reported that there are two new writers tagged to write "Now You See Me 3," which are Neil Widener and Gavin James.

The two previously worked on "Battle of Alcatraz" for Paramount and will soon be working on "San Andreas 2" for New Line.

Meanwhile, Chu shared in an interview with Collider that they are already working on "Now You See Me 3," but they are struggling a little with everyone's schedules.

The director wants to outdo the second film and at the same time, avoid repeating what they did before.

"We want to continue to push ourselves and change it up, and keep it sharp and fresh. After a second one, you definitely feel like, 'Where are we repeating ourselves? How do we not repeat ourselves?' Everybody is aware of it and everyone is strategizing how to come up with fresh idea, in the best way possible," Chu explained.

He added that it is key to keep the storyline based on the characters. "The biggest asset is our characters and that cast, so leaning into that helps us, for sure," Chu said.

There is still no premiere date set for "Now You See Me 3."
