'Once Upon A Time' season 6 spoilers, plot news: Aladdin, Jafar, Morpheus join cast

Aladdin and Jafar are the latest additions to the Land of Untold Stories, the cast and crew of "Once Upon A Time" announced during the show's Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 23.

The role of Aladdin will be played by "Graceland" alum Deniz Akdeniz. Before his casting in "Once Upon A Time," Akdeniz was in "Perception," "Jessie," and "Code Black."

Speaking with the press at Comic-Con, "Once Upon A Time" creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis talked about the decision to bring in Aladdin.

"I think that hopefully when you see the premiere, you'll understand why," Horowitz said. "In our conception of the Aladdin story, because like anything we try to do our own twist on it, as you saw the clip today, you'll see that he was a savior. There's clearly some sort of connection between him and Emma, as a savior, and that kind of tie is what made it feel appropriate to bring our Aladdin spin into the show now. We're going to deal with some very strong and emotional things."

Meanwhile, Jafar will be played by "Covert Affairs" grad Oded Fehr. The actor takes over the role from "Lost" star Naveen Andrews, who played Jafar in "Once Upon A Time in Wonderland."

Fehr has also appeared in the shows "Quantico," "Stitchers," "The Blacklist," and "NCIS."

At Comic-Con, Horowitz and Kitsis said that the role of Jafar was written for Andrews. However, the actor is currently busy working on "Sense8" and the part was thus recast.

Akdeniz and Fehr will join fellow season 6 newbie Giles Matthey, who will play the role of Morpheus. Matthey, who was in "24," will reportedly play a clever and insightful Morpheus, who is as good at reading others as he is at concealing his own motives.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Once Upon A Time" season 6 will find Morpheus interacting with Belle (Emilie de Ravin) and Rumple (Robert Carlyle).

"Once Upon a Time" season 6 debuts Sunday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
