'Once Upon a Time' season 6 spoilers: familiar face returns for epic 'princess team-up'
The latter half of "Once Upon a Time" season 6 will greet fans and the Storybrooke heroes with a brand-new threat and some familiar faces.
It has been revealed that JoAnna Garcia Swisher will be back as "the little mermaid" Ariel for the first time since the fourth season, in which she made a family reunion happen with Ursula (Merrin Dungey) and Poseidon (Ernie Hudson).
For her "Once Upon a Time" season 6 return, Ariel will be around a new set of characters and will interact with people that fans would not have thought she will meet.
"Ariel returns and meets Princess Jasmine [Karen David] as they join Hook [Colin O'Donoghue] on an adventure as he and Emma [Jennifer Morrison] face a daunting challenge that requires a big time princess team-up," executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased to Entertainment Weekly.
There is no word at the moment how many episodes Ariel will be appearing in although it appears that she will be heavily involved in this sort of rescue mission in "Once Upon a Time" season 6.
As teased by the duo before, "Once Upon a Time" season 6 will see Emma the target of a "dark figure in a hood who has come to wreak havoc."
The heroes will work hard to keep safe or at least bring Emma back. This could be where Ariel enters the picture as she could be of help in fending off the mysterious new adversary.
As for Emma, she will be in some dangerous company when "Once Upon a Time" season 6 returns to the small screen, at least based on one of the descriptions for the latter half of the season.
"Emma is partnered up with the person who killed the king and queen, so everyone — including their own son — is looking for them," the summary reads.
"Once Upon a Time" season 6 will also see Regina (Lana Parilla) continue to struggle after seeing Robin (Sean Maguire) in the Wish Realm alive and well.
"Once Upon a Time" season 6 returns with "Tougher Than the Rest" on Sunday, March 5, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
