'Once Upon A Time' season 6 spoilers: Jafar also joining Aladdin and Jasmine but with twist
It was previously expected that "Once Upon A Time" season 6 will finally introduce Jasmine and Aladdin. It turns out Jafar is coming along too with Oded Fehr taking on the role.
Jafar is undoubtedly known for his wickedness in the Disney realm, but as showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis point out, the tone of the new season will not be totally influenced by the character's background.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the duo talked about "Once Upon A Time" season 6's tone now that Jafar as well as Aladdin and Jasmine to be played by Deniz Akdeniz and Karen David respectively.
"I think it's the 'Once Upon a Time' tone, which is to say that dark things happen, but it never gets bleak, which is the difference we always draw. Despite how dark and scary things can get, there's always a hopefulness at the core of the storytelling," Horowitz explained.
"I think with the Aladdin story and how it meshes with the 'Once Upon a Time' story, the same will hold true. We're not going to pull any punches with Jafar in terms of being a really dark and evil character," he continued.
With that said, Horowitz and Kitsis warned fans that the Aladdin, Jasmine and Jafar they will see in "Once Upon A Time" season 6 will not entirely mirror the classic characters.
With regards to Jasmine and Aladdin, the former will be depicted as a "strong character with an agenda" while the latter was revealed to be a Savior, just like Emma (Jennifer Morrison).
All three characters will be part of the entire "Once Upon A Time" season 6. Of course, they won't be the only ones to look forward to in the new season.
David Anders will be back as Dr. Whale better known as Frankenstein while Belle's (Emilie de Ravin) back story will take center stage as early as the premiere.
"Once Upon A Time" season 6 will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
