'Once Upon a Time' season 6B air date, spoilers: August Booth returns; Gideon still set on killing Emma
A familiar face comes back when "Once Upon a Time" returns for the back half of season 6 next year.
At the end of the midseason finale, the Storybrookers missed their ride home after Regina (Lana Parilla) got distracted by the sight of Robin Hood, who turned out to be alive and well. The series picks up next year with Emma finding herself partnered up with a character who "killed the king and queen, so everyone — including their own son — is looking or them," according to series co-creator Eddy Kitsis. In a new promo photo released by ABC, August Booth, aka Pinocchio (Eion Bailey), comes back to the realm to possibly offer the stranded characters some assistance.
Meanwhile, Regina's heart remained black despite successfully splitting with her alter-ego, the Evil Queen (also played by Parilla). Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Horowitz revealed that the condition of Regina's heart will be "very important" in the upcoming storyline. "We're actually going to fully get into what we've posed," Kitsis said, adding, "which is can you separate the good from the bad, the dark from the light, or is it something that's inside us that we have to live with and deal with?"
As for Emma's fate, Gideon is still clearly after the female character's life. However, the reason why he wants to kill her remains a mystery to fans up until now. Some speculate that Gideon wants to end Emma's life because she's the Savior, but other viewers believe that he has his own reasons. Horowitz hinted that it will be answered soon, but fans have to wait for the story to unfold.
"We pick up with that [pawn shop] scene, and Gold and Belle will articulate some of the questions that our viewers have," he added. "What happened to Gideon? Why is he seemingly after Emma? And in her vision, what is motivating him? And most of that stuff gets answered pretty quickly," he went on to say.
The sixth season of "Once Upon a Time" returns to the airwaves in spring 2017 on ABC.
