"One Punch Man," the anime adaptation of the popular Japanese manga and webcomic of the same title, will debut on Adult Swim's Toonami block on Saturday, July 16.

Adult Swim made the surprise announcement at its Anime Expo panel on Friday, July 1.

"One Punch Man" was adapted for television by Madhouse and aired its first season from October to December 2015 in Japan.

The anime follows the story of the laid-back superhero Saitama as he tries to protect the fictional Japanese metropolis City Z from various monsters and villains. Saitama, who is known as the strongest hero, defeats his opponents with a single punch.

During Adult Swim's Anime Expo panel, it was also announced that the English cast of the show will include Max Mittelman voicing the titular one-punch man, Zach Aguilar as Saitama's disciple Genos, Eric Scott Kimerer as the villain Speed-o'-Sound Sonic, and Robbie Daymond as the C-Class superhero Mumen Rider. The new English voice actors for "One Punch Man" can be heard in action in the show's new trailer.

The English-language dub of the "One Punch Man" anime was first announced by Viz Media at Anime Boston 2016 in March.

During the final weeks of the freshman season's airing schedule, "One Punch Man" illustrator Yusuke Murata announced that he was working on the show's second season. However, since December 2015, there has been no confirmation that "One Punch Man" season 2 is actually in development.

As for the possible plot for the anime's sophomore season, speculations abound that Saitama could fight three of his main opponents: Garou, Lord Boros, and Amai Mask.

According to reports, while the protagonist already fought Lord Boros in season 1, the villain could come back stronger and more powerful than ever in season 2. It is expected that Saitama will have a difficult time trying to defeat Lord Boros.

The English-dubbed "One Punch Man" will debut on Saturday, July 16, at midnight, on Toonami.
