'Orange Is the New Black' Season 3 Release Date, Cast News: Netflix Confirms New Season Arriving June 2015
"Orange Is the New Black" will have new episodes for its third season in the middle of June, Netflix announced on Monday.
The streaming service said it will make the new episodes for its hit original series available for its fans online starting June 12.
Main cast members Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon will be back behind bars inside a women's penitentiary, which will see a lot of new characters.
Schilling plays a woman in her thirties, who is sent to prison for carrying a suitcase stuffed with drug money to her ex-girlfriend.
Behind bars in federal prison, Piper is reunited with her ex-girlfriend and drug dealer Alex, played by Laura Prepon.
Prepon said her character will appear "in every episode" of the third season of the Netflix hit series created by Jenji Kohan.
"The thing that's so interesting about Alex and Piper is that they totally love each other, but they also look out for themselves," Prepon said, according to the Daily Mail.
"It's this constant power struggle between the two of them. And then at the end of Season Two, Piper does a major power play. And you wonder, is it because she totally loves this girl, or is it because she's just getting her back?" she added.
Piper's pathetic boyfriend Larry Bloom (played by Jason Biggs), will not be returning for the third series. This may mean a renewed affair between Piper and Alex.
Netflix also confirmed Red (Kate Mulgrew), Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning), Morello (Yael Stone) and Gloria Mendoza (Selenis Leyva) will all be returning.
The new series of the award-winning drama will include 14 episodes, going one more than series one and two, which each featured 13 episodes, The Independent reported.
Series 3 of OITNB will launch seven days after the premiere of another Netflix original series, "Sense8," a sci-fi drama from the creators of "The Matrix" trilogy.
