Orange is the New Black Season 3 Release Date, Netflix Cast News: Model Ruby Rose Joins Prison Drama

When the announcement was made that Ruby Rose was joining the cast of "Orange is the New Black," many did not know who the Australian model and DJ was. But soon afterwards, the news of her casting drew attention on the Internet and fans of the hit show welcomed her onboard.

The announcement of Rose's inclusion in the series came through Elle Magazine which featured a statement from her. The magazine stated that Rose's character "Oozes raw sex appeal even in an orange jumpsuit." Elle also noted that she will be the newest inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary during the third season of "Orange is the New Black." She will soon become the love interest for both Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and Alex Vause (Laura Prepon).

Rose, 28, also linked the article in Elle Magazine to her Facebook page, with the caption: "Grab Elle Magazine and read about my new role on 'Orange Is The New Black'." She also stated that she was "Excited and honored to be named one of fresh faces on TV to watch in 2015."

Her involvement in the hit series was then confirmed by Netflix in a statement which indicated that Rose would play the role of Stella Carlin, who is described as "An inmate with a sarcastic sense of humor and captivating looks which will draw the attention of others."

Rose, who is fairly new to acting,. will have a work cut out for her in the critically acclaimed TV show.

Rose is a successful model in Australia and is represented by Wilhelmina Models, an agency based in New York. She has also worked for MTV as a VJ. As a television presenter, she has been involved with "Ultimate School Musical" and covered the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010.

It was earlier announced that "Orange is the New Black" would be adding several new stars to its ranks in the third season including Mike Birbiglia, Mary Steenburgen and Blair Brown. As for Prepon she will also be a main character in the third season after she missed the second.
