'Orange is the New Black' season 5 plot spoilers: Soso commits suicide after Poussey's death?
Fans have been speculating that Soso (Kimiko Glenn) will commit suicide after the death of her lover Poussey (Samira Wiley) in season 4 of "Orange is the New Black."
Last season, Poussey was killed by a prison guard through suffocation; the death of one of Litchfield's favorite characters left Brook Soso's heart in shambles. Some fans speculate that this move was parallel to the Black Lives Matter movement, and it is a commentary on the racial injustice that dominates the actual news.
While others were hurt by Poussey's death, her girlfriend Soso seems to have taken it the hardest, and has gone back into her shell. Glenn told The Hollywood Reporter that she was also shocked with the show's recent developments. Glenn said, "I had a hunch that something was going to happen because things were going way too well. I thought I was going to get released from prison and that we were going to have a deal with that – that there would be some drama or that something would happen."
She then continued to say that she thought Poussey would be safe because of her fan-favorite status. "One-hundred percent, I thought she was going to be OK," she said.
Glenn also cited that Poussey's death will most likely lead to Soso's as well. She says it is because Soso feels trapped in the prison while trying to cope with the loss of her lover.
Soso is no stranger to the concept of suicide as well. Last season, Poussey was the one who saved her from a suicidal attempt. Bustle predicts that with her continued alienation from the other inmates and the self-blame on the loss of Poussey, nobody is left to stop Soso from successfully killing herself.
Will the fans lose Poussey this season 5, or will the showrunners find a way for her to cope with death? No release date has been announced for season 5 yet, but expect "Orange is the New Black" to come back next year.
