At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, John Fawcett, co-creator of "Orphan Black," dropped hints about the upcoming fifth season. He said that they already have a clear image of what the final season of the series would be, saying it would be bittersweet and fun.

The upcoming season would have 10 episodes, all of which would tie up loose ends with Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) and her clone sisters. According to Fawcett, with the last seasons of "Orphan Black" being one phenomenal adventure, fans could expect this final season to end on a high.

There are speculations that "Orphan Black" was canceled due to low ratings. However, co-creator Graeme Manson said that right from the get-go, the writers of the series worked on a five-season story, no more and no less. Apparently, the production team doesn't want to stretch the story too much so as not to decline the quality of the story and its presentation.

Movie News Guide reported that "Orphan Black" season 5 would see the return of Krystal, the girlier clone who was discovered in the third season. The catch is she doesn't have an idea that she is a clone. Delphine Cormier (Evelyne Brochu), who was initially thought to be dead but was eventually found alive, could also make a comeback in the upcoming installment.

The cast made its SDCC farewell by showing a blooper reel and highlights of the first four seasons of the sci-fi drama, according to Deadline. Nevertheless, sneak peeks of the upcoming fifth and last installment were not shown.

Aside from Maslany, the "Orphan Black" SDCC panel included Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Kristian Bruun (Donnie), Kevin Hanchard (Art), and co-creators Fawcett and Manson. Also present was Kathryn Alexandre, who plays Maslany's double.

"Orphan Black" season 5's 10-episode finale will air sometime in April 2017 on BBC America.
