After a tearful parting at the finale for last season, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) are set for an adventure in the high seas in the upcoming "Outlander" season 3. Fans of the show may still be somewhat breathless since season 2 came to a close just recently, but tidings of two more seasons greenlighted make the future of the series a lot more certain on Starz.

The next installment will follow the third Diana Gabaldon novel, "Voyager," according to reports. This time, though, the Fraser's journey on ships will be much longer, and perhaps wrought with greater peril, as pirates and an exotic location have also been teased for the next "Outlander" installment. Jamie and Claire are going to Jamaica!

Matthew Roberts, one of the "Outlander" writers as well as its producer, teased fans on Twitter about the much-anticipated installment.

When asked about the filming schedule for the new season, Roberts replied, "Takes a while to prep -- It's a whole new world -- around Sept."

The producer also mentioned that he — and that must go for the production staff as well — did not take a break between the close of the last season and the preparation stage for the upcoming third run.

However, before this voyage can happen, Claire will have to find her way back to Jamie. This means that "Outlander" season 3 will open in Scotland, and Claire will be twenty years older and will have a grown up daughter with Jamie, who is named Brianna. She will need to go back through the Craigh na Dun again to find the man she loves. It was made known previously that Jamie had somehow survived the Battle of Culloden.

Heughan shared with Variety that "Outlander" season 3 will go into Jamie's character and get the viewers acquainted with the older man he will become, saying Jamie will be a changed man physically as well as mentally.

It seems that a lot of exciting things are coming up for the series' avid followers. As executive producer Ron D. Moore told fans, "Very exciting to talk about the ships. Whole season looks like a lot of fun. Very challenging — but that's Outlander."
