'Overwatch' Christmas update: 'Winter Wonderland' update features Widowmaker's mistletoe; Mei's new skin a disappointment?

The "Winter Wonderland" of "Overwatch" has just started yesterday and already, numerous reviews have been out. The event comes with new emotes, character skins, aside from the holiday-themed character that punches the player with its powerful mistletoe.

Players of "Overwatch" are currently crazed about the Christmas update, titled as "Winter Wonderland." One of the most talked about feature is the Widowmaker, who has a new animation to boast.

Kotaku wrote that the Widowmaker depicts a sexier nature, and the fans are giving positive reviews about it, specifically about how it uses a mistletoe to bring wrath to her opponent. Once her mistletoe is stepped upon, it automatically punches the player on the throat.

Aside from the Widowmaker, the "Winter Wonderland" update also include a new skin for Mei. The adventurous character is given a holiday treat with a new skin, which can be found in special loot boxes. This is good news for players who want to collect all new skins for the players, or for those who want to see Mei in her holiday outfit.

Similar to the skins of "Overwatch" characters, fresh voice lines and costume changes come with a price. Mei's special outfit necessitates a 3,000 credit investment, in which credits can be acquired by opening some loot boxes. The credits can be won through an actual purchase of $1.99 or through in-game finds.

However, according to Polygon, Mei's outfit is no different from her usual ones. Some players on Reddit expressed their sadness over the seemingly simple holiday outfit. Reddit user Chriscaa112 wrote:

"Been waiting for a new legendary Mei skin. Was expecting something to come out during Christmas. Turns out all they did was a f***ing Mei recolor with a hat and they labeled it a f***ing legendary."

The disappointment may be reasonable as this is the first time the character was given a skin ever since the game was released, which is why the players' expectations for her outfit are quite high.
