'Overwatch' DLC release date, news, rumors: After Sombra, more DLC characters lined up for next year
After the big announcement of Blizzard Entertainment regarding the arrival of Sombra as the next DLC character of "Overwatch," it is now rumored that more characters will be added to the roster in the coming months.
The "Overwatch" game designer and assistant game director, Aaron Keller, recently teased the fans that more characters will be joining the current roster of heroes through the upcoming DLC updates. The additional free characters will arrive next year, something that the fans will be looking forward to.
In an interview with Metro, Keller revealed that the "Overwatch" team is following many exciting ideas that will go with the upcoming characters. However, the crucial thing, for now, is to find the right timing to release every new character without making the "Overwatch" gaming community too overwhelmed. The release of the next set of characters this 2017 will not go too fast, so the players should expect a gap in between the characters' launch.
Aside from the new "Overwatch" heroes, the fans will see brand new map locations and game modes that will make their gaming experience more exciting. According to Yibada, the latest in-game maps announced by Blizzard Entertainment so far are Oasis and Ecopoint Antarctica. As for the new game modes, Blizzard already unveiled the special "Arcade Mode" in the present gameplay.
So far, there will be at least three new playable heroes that will be included in the game's next downloadable content pack. According to PCGamesN, the next "Overwatch" DLC pack will be made available during the early part of 2017, introducing the great heroes such as Liao, Doomfist and Athena. Besides Sombra, Athena was rumored earlier to join the "Overwatch" roster, and the hero is expected to assume a supporting role in a party.
Meanwhile, "Overwatch" will be a free game from Nov. 18 to 21. The free weekend play will allow the players to access all 22 heroes plus 13 map locations. Likewise, the available game modes during the free weekend play include "Quick Play", "Custom Games" and "Weekly Brawl".
"Overwatch" is playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platform.
