'Overwatch' DLC release date, news, rumors: Official image of Sombra revealed; Blizzard considering 'Appear Offline' mode for the game
After several months of speculation, there are now clearer signs from Blizzard Entertainment itself regarding the arrival of Sombra as a playable character in the hit action role-playing game (ARPG), "Overwatch." The game studio recently teased the official character art of Sombra, which the players can expect once the character is officially included in the next DLC update.
As reported by VG 24/7, Blizzard has revealed the official image of Sombra, showing her controlling a giant Omnic robot with the help of the connecting wires coming from her fingertips. This is a glimpse of the mysterious character's high-level hacking skills.
However, it is interesting to note that Blizzard Entertainment was also quick to remove the official artwork for Sombra from their website. The good thing is that a certain Reddit user was able to save the image before Blizzard took it down. The saved image has now been circulating not only in the Reddit forums but also in other "Overwatch-related" online communities as well.
According to Yibada, the official unveiling of Sombra as the next DLC character is expected to happen in the Blizzcon 2016 event, which will run from November 4 to 5.
Just recently, the backstory for Sombra was also teased by Blizzard in a creative way. Blizzard Entertainment's official website of the game studio posted a mysterious article written in formal newsletter style. In this particular post, Blizzard seems to blame a fictitious company named LumeriCo and its president for a crime.
It was noted that the imaginary CEO of LumeriCo, Guillermo Portero, has been involved in money laundering activities and bribery that involves huge personalities in the government. Portero has also allegedly devised a scheme to "seize privately held land via government expropriation to expand LumeriCo's facilities throughout Mexico."
To recall, Sombra is seemingly connected to this company as her group called the "Sombra collective" is known to launch several attacks on LumeriCo's website, with other stealth groups such as the Los Muertos joining her cause to bring down the company.
On the other hand, "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan gave hints that the "Appear Offline" feature for the video game will be released soon. There is no confirmed date yet about the special game mode's release, although Kaplan revealed that they are figuring out ways to make this happen soon, iTechPost reported.
"Overwatch" is currently playable on PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
