'Overwatch' DLC release date, news update: Fan points out easter egg in Sombra short video
"Overwatch" fans rejoiced when Blizzcon 2016 officially saw the release of the game's newest playable character, Sombra. To introduce the character and her specialized skill set, Blizzard released a short video which had Sombra, Reaper and Widowmaker attempting to assassinate a head of the Russian government, Mrs. Volskaya. The video ended with Sombra turning into her reluctant ally, and Sombra tapping her in the nose and sayong "Boop!" Though it may have come out as a harmless and playful gesture, one fan pointed out that it said so much more about Sombra's character.
According to Dorkly, Sombra's boop actually has way more meaning behind it. In the short video titled "Infiltration," Sombra was able to gain the alliance of Volskaya after she blackmailed her with pictures of the official making deals with Omnics, the robot menace that started the war and led to the creation of Overwatch.
Sombra finally made her give in, however, when she showed Volskaya a picture of her daughter, and said that the public scandal would tear her family apart. Volskaya agreed, then Sombra booped her on the nose before teleporting out of the facility.
In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, the boop was actually an action that Volskaya herself did to her daughter as seen on a picture by her desk. Sombra's mimic of the movement was a way to express that she also knew how to get to her daughter and that she has been stalking them intimately.
Though the info doesn't really change much of Sombra in the gameplay, the back story is still something that fans thoroughly enjoy in the "Overwatch" universe, and they have been waiting a long time for Sombra.
Sombra is still in her testing phase, but fans can expect her to be playable via the "Overwatch" Public Test Region this week.
