'Overwatch' gameplay, rewards, latest news: Blizzard offers more loot boxes for holiday; new heroes to come in 2017
One of Blizzard's most celebrated games, "Overwatch," will be more generous to the fans by giving away more perks this holiday season. This is to celebrate the success of the title, which is gathering positive praises from the gamers.
As a way to show their gratitude, Blizzard is giving "Overwatch" players five loot boxes. Game Informer shared the message of the game publisher, which reads:
"It has truly been an eventful and [amazing] year, and we wanted to take a moment to thank you for being a part of it. We could not have done this without the tremendous support, passion, and enthusiasm that you've shown for "Overwatch.'"
However, Blizzard did not disclose how long the loot boxes will be available. As of this time, loot boxes are still up for grabs.
Meanwhile, the publisher also revealed their future plans for the title via the "Year in Review" video. Game director Jeff Kaplan made a compelling mark on the title's history, especially the memorable first eight months of it. He then continued to reveal what the players should expect in 2017.
The video shows a glimpse of new heroes that will soon grace the game. In a report by Mic, 2017 will be a hectic year for "Overwatch" since it will also release new game modes, maps and more.
Wired wrote that the new map is called Oasis. This has already been teased by Blizzard during this year's Blizzcon. The new map is reportedly in beta testing and will soon arrive in 2017.
Aside from new characters and map, Polygon reported that players will also be able to have a custom game server browser, which will allow them to create games according to their liking. It is said to be highly requested by fans and Blizzard already gave in to the request. Also, a communication wheel is soon to have a big improvement and will be seen next year as well.
