'Overwatch' Halloween update brings new skins, emotes, sprays and more
Team-based multiplayer first-person shooter video game "Overwatch" is joining in on the fun of the spooky season. Blizzard Entertainment just rolled out its first Halloween-themed patch and it's now live on all platforms.
According to reports, the seasonal patch is called Halloween Terror and it will be available until Nov. 1. It's also noted that the update is just what early rumors thought it would be. It comes with 12 new skins which are all designed with a Halloween theme and can be unlocked via loot boxes.
Some of the skins included are the witch outfit for Mercy, Thriller skin (which is based on the famous Michael Jackson music video) for Soldier 76, sexy evil getup for Symmetra, jack-o-lantern for Reaper and ghost face for Ana. There's also a zombie-themed skin for Pharah, demon for Hanzo and a specter look for Reinhardt.
Aside from the skins, reports said the update also arrived with new emotes, sprays and victory poses. New voice lines have also been added and some of the notable ones are Ana's "Are you scared?," Roadhog's "Want some candy?," Winston's "This is not a costume," and Reaper's "I work the graveyard shift."
There is also a new brawl which features Junkrat as Dr. Junkenstein and it's noted to be the first pure "player vs. environment" (PvE) content. The brawl, which is called Junkenstein's Revenge, is a time-limited mode wherein four players are dropped in a haunted house setting. The point of the play is to survive seven minutes of enemy surge and keep them from breaking a door in the back of the room.
The four heroes that gamers can choose from are Ana, Hanzo, McCree and Soldier 76. It's no longer required to build fortifications or upgrade weapons in this mode so gamers can focus on surviving. However, there is no bonus or unlocking of a specific item at the end of the game.
