'Overwatch' Valentine's Day event teased by leaked voice lines
Blizzard might be planning a Valentine's Day event for "Overwatch," based on the new voice lines discovered by dataminers in the newest Public Test Region (PTR) update.
Reddit user akhanubis shared several voice lines from the latest PTR update, which could be used in the future updates of the game. While some of the voice lines may not be new, at least two new voice lines suggest that the game developer might be gearing up to launch a Valentine's Day event for the multiplayer shooter video game.
In one of the lines, the Japanese cyborg ninja Genji asked the assassin Hanzo if he got any chocolates. But in the other line, Genji was heard saying that he got some chocolates for the Swiss doctor Mercy.
Both lines could be used by the game developer for an upcoming event that could coincide with next month's Valentine's Day.
However, game director Jeff Kaplan seemed to have debunked the rumors about a Valentine's Day event on the official "Overwatch" forum page back in December when he discussed some of their plans for the game.
"We do have some VERY cool stuff planned for next year. To clarify without spoiling surprises: We are *NOT* planning a Valentines or Easter event. So yes, you can expect cool events. But just to manage expectations Valentines and Easter are not those events," Kaplan stated in the forum page.
But while Blizzard has yet to confirm if they changed their minds about a Valentine's Day event based on the leaked voice lines, Kaplan earlier revealed that they have a lot of plans for "Overwatch" for 2017.
One of the planned new content for the game is the new map called Oasis, which is reportedly on track for an early 2017 release date. Other maps are expected to be released for the game as well.
