After launching the Halloween and Christmas events in 2016, "Overwatch" will start 2017 with another seasonal event in time for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Blizzard teased the upcoming "Overwatch" Year of the Rooster event through a video posted on the game's Twitter page. The video stated that the seasonal event will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The post did not reveal much about the contents of the new seasonal event, but it dropped a hint that the game's resident climatologist, Mei, will receive a new skin.

Meanwhile, the official "Overwatch" page in South Korea also posted a short video featuring D.Va. The character can be seen wearing a blue, pink and white dress as well as her usual eSports icon that she uses as a small tiara on her head. Her mech was also tweaked with red colors, which might be edited so it can fit with the upcoming Year of the Rooster event.

In addition, Polygon reported that a spokesperson from Blizzard confirmed that the new Year of the Rooster event for "Overwatch" will come out with almost the same content as the past seasonal game events like the "Halloween Terror" and the "Winter Wonderland." This means that it will present additional contents such as new character skins, emotes, voice lines, sprays, as well as other brand-new cosmetic items. It is also expected to come with new gameplay modes.

The upcoming event could be one of the plans mentioned by game director Jeff Kaplan during a forum about the game's offering for 2017 back in December.

"We do have some VERY cool stuff planned for next year," Kaplan said during the forum that was posted by Daily Star. "To clarify without spoiling surprises: We are *NOT* planning a Valentines or Easter event. So yes, you can expect cool events. But just to manage expectations Valentines and Easter are not those events."

More details about the upcoming "Overwatch" Year of the Rooster event is expected to be released soon.
