'Penny Dreadful' season 3, episode 6 spoilers: Ethan and Jared Talbot face off; Vanessa gains new ally

The last episode for "Penny Dreadful" season 3, which aired over on Showtime Sunday, May 29, left viewers grappling with a cliffhanger ending. It saw Jared Talbot (Brian Cox), Ethan's (Josh Hartnett) father, aiming a gun at the latter as episode 5 drew to a close.

Now fans cannot wait to see what is next in store for the show's protagonist. Did Ethan get shot? And if he did, who is going to help him and his friends get out of that situation Jared placed them in? Episode 6, entitled "No Beast So Fierce," is bound to bring the answers to these questions and is also expected to feature the face-off between the father and the son.

Ethan will become very violent, and the Talbot home will become a pandemonium before the episode is done, as seen from the promo trailer for the upcoming episode. As to who is the fierce beast referred to in the episode title will also be identified. Ethan means to kill his father. Jared expects to shower retribution over his son for the painful deaths of their family members which the former had been forced to witness and endure. It is anyone's best guess of who will prevail.

Besides Ethan's troubles, the next episode will also deal with Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and her search for the first one, Dracula. She meets a friend from her past, Ferdinand Lyle, an Egyptologist who helped her and Sir Dalton before. Lyle will introduce her to Catriona Hartdegen (Perdita Weeks). Hartdegen will become Ives' new ally.

The former seems to know a lot about the first vampire, and Ives confides in her regarding her search for Dracula in London. Hartdegen tells Ives that the first one has since changed identities several times in the past years. The two women eventually join forces to redeem themselves after being taken by the great seducer.

The audience knows that Ives has met the creature before when she went on a date with him, but the latter does not realize it. She knew him as Dr. Sweet.

A lot of exciting revelations are on the way for "Penny Dreadful" fans. Will it be Ethan who will dominate the face-off? Are Ethan's friends including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) going to escape with their lives after the father-son confrontation? Will Ives finally see that Dr. Sweet is who she has been looking for?
