Right now, there have been numerous reports saying that there is a possibility that "Penny Dreadful" will continue to air for a fourth season; however, there's one thing these reports forgot to mention: it has already been announced that the series is going to continue in comic book form. That's an official announcement. It's not some silly rumor that has been circulating around the internet.

Yes, Josh Harnett may have said he'd love to reprise his role as Ethan. But do people realize that his statements were made before it was decided that "Penny Dreadful" would continue on as a comic book series?

There are also reports saying that Harnett has been asking other networks to pick up the series. But is he really doing that? Has this been verified? Will "Penny Dreadful" creator John Logan allow someone else to put his or her fingerprints on his creation without his permission? Logan already decided that the TV series would end with Vanessa Ives' (Eva Green) death in season 3, and he stood firm with his decision. Can another network change his mind? He has pointed out that the show will not go on with Vanessa.

Meanwhile, Movie News Guide claims that they have heard reports saying Logan may plan to continue the series if he finds a showrunner and director that he likes. Apparently, there are also reports saying Netflix is interested in picking up the series and the network is allegedly waiting for Logan to give them the go signal. Okay, once again, where is the proof?

The fact of the matter is "Penny Dreadful" is going to continue on as a comic book early next year, and fans should be happy to know that the series isn't going to end. The comic book series is set six months after the season 3 finale and Ethan is still trying to move on after Vanessa's death. But he will find himself facing more creatures of the night a brief respite.
