Philadelphia 76ers trade rumors: Sixers thinking about deal to take upstart guard from the Lakers?
While the Philadelphia 76ers are still far from the established team they hope to become, they are slowly turning toward a positive note this season.
They have a young core of players who are working to make themselves and the team better each day. It appears they trust the process albeit a slow and steady climb.
At the moment, their record is not exactly what they want it to be, but they have gotten wins earlier than expected and that should help the team's morale.
With that in mind, there are talks surrounding the team that they are looking to make a big trade that involves the Los Angeles Lakers and one of their upstart guards, Jordan Clarkson. Based on the rumors, Clarkson is being linked to move to Philly, with the Sixers open to trading Jahlil Okafor for his services.
Both players are young and appear to have high ceilings in their careers, so this move may be beneficial for both.
Clarkson is in his third year and has been one of the steady pieces of the Lakers so far, averaging 14 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in his career. For the first time in a long time, the Lakers look like an exciting team to watch and Clarkson is one of the big reasons why.
On the other hand, Okafor made a solid statement in his rookie year, averaging 17.5 points per game.
Unfortunately, his output has dropped early this season to only 10.4 points per game as the Sixers have Joel Embiid on the floor. It is the same problem that the Sixers have as they have Embiid, Okafor and Nerlens Noel as their young big men, making it difficult to share all the minutes together.
This trade may be a breath of fresh air for Okafor, while Clarkson may move to Philly and improve as he will become the cornerstone of the franchise.
