Johnny Depp suffered an unspecified injury while on location shooting in Australia for the fifth movie of the hit adventure franchise "Pirates of the Caribbean" over the weekend.

According to People, the condition of the 51-year-old actor appeared to be serious enough that he needed to fly back to United States "for surgery."

There had been no report as to how Depp hurt himself. He is expected to recuperate in two weeks.

Since February, Depp was in the Land Down Under to shoot "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" with Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar and directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning.

Several reports said Disney expects Depp's injury to leave minimal impact on the film's production as the team plans to shoot scenes around Captain Jack Sparrow for the next few weeks.

Smiling and waving to his fans, Depp seemed unperturbed as he was spotted at the Brisbane airport with his arm in a sling, boarding a plane that headed back to the U.S. on Tuesday.

Last month, Depp and Amber Heard got married in Los Angeles. They held a second wedding celebration at his private island in the Bahamas.

In the fifth installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escaped from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea – including him.

Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

The last "Pirates of the Caribbean" grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
