'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' release date, news: Jack Sparrow gets new ship, new allies in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'

Disney has finally released the full plot synopsis for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" (via ComingSoon), and it looks like Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is getting a new ship called the Dying Gull.

Okay, the name does not exactly inspire fear. In fact, the Dying Gull is described as a "pitiful small and shabby ship." Who in the world would quiver with fear when they see a worn-out ship flying the Jolly Roger? Small derelict merchant ships, perhaps?

According to the synopsis, Jack is on a quest for the legendary Trident of Poseidon since it's the only thing that can save him from Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem) and his crew of ghost pirates. To find the artifact, he will have to team up with a brilliant and beautiful astronomer named Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), and a young sailor in the Royal Navy named Henry (Brenton Thwaites).

Geoffrey Rush is coming back to play Captain Hector Barbossa in "Dead Men Tell No Tales," and Kevin R. McNally is also reprising his role as Joshamee Gibbs. Furthermore, Stephen Graham is back to portray Scrum.

Golshifteh Farahani is going to play the sea-witch Shansa, and the film also stars David Wenham as Scarfield. The plot synopsis did not mention anything about Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), but the actor is expected to appear in "Dead Men Tell No Tales." In fact, sources believe he may have a substantial role in the film.

It is also rumored that Keira Knightley may reprise her role as Elizabeth Swann in a post credit scene, however, this hasn't been confirmed yet. It is believed that she may also appear in the sixth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

"Dead Men Tell No Tales" is scheduled to premiere on May 26. The film is directed by Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, while Jeff Nathanson wrote the script. Jerry Bruckheimer is once again producing.
